Sheffield City Centre BID Ltd  ("Sheffield BID") is the accountable delivery body for the city centre business improvement district (BID)

About the BID

Created by ballot in 2015, we contribute to the vibrancy of the commercial trading and working environment.

We support the events programme to drive footfall, dwell time and spend. We fund activities, events and ideas that bring people and trade opportunities to the city centre. We build a strong, collaborative business community.

The work of a BID is additional to the services provided by the local authority and other statutory bodies.

BIDs last for five years after which time a renewal ballot must take place.


BID programmes

Our focus in this term covers four programmes:

Vibrant - diverse events, festivals and culture
Connected - bringing in people, bringing in business
Maintained - welcoming, clean and safe
Sustainable - building resilience and investment
In addition to the BID levy, the BID Company pursues the development of additional income streams to reinvest in the city centre BID area

Bike Register

We offer a Pathway from street homelessness to a settled life. There is no one definitive journey and any Pathway has to recognise individuality and personal choice. Our Pathway is split into three broad stages that allow for people to set their own individual goals as they move on. The stages are Engagement, Stabilisation and Fulfilment.

Ben’s Centre is a charity that aims to provide a safe space and an open hand to those who suffer through substance misuse and its associated barriers.

The Diocese of Sheffield roughly corresponds to South Yorkshire. Its parish churches are under the oversight and care of the Bishop of Sheffield, who gives a lead in the development of the vision for the future of the Diocese. 

The Cathedral is its centre of worship. The Bishop of Sheffield has his seat (‘cathedra’) here, and presides at Christmas and Easter services and other special occasions.
