The area of Cheadle Town encompasses the residential area of Hammersley Hayes estate. It has a strong community spirit and has benefited from significant investment recently.

There are large playing fields at Churchill Road and a large public recreation ground offering bowling, a skate ramp, tennis and children's play area coupled with the South Moorlands Leisure Centre. Further leisure facilities are also planned. Educationally, the area is covered by two primary and two high schools.The west of Cheadle benefits from a healthy mix of town centre businesses, industrial and residential areas.

Current Priorities

Issue

Tackling vehicle crime is an ongoing priority.

Action

In recent months, we have been responding to vehicle offences, relating to theft of motor bikes as well as cars.
We have worked alongside our forensics and CID colleagues to make a number of arrests, with a number of charges being brought against several suspects.
This type of offence has seen a decrease more recently, however local officers continue to monitor and investigate any reported offences in order to bring offenders to justice. This work remains ongoing.

Issue

Anti-social behaviour (ASB) including drug use, vandalism and street drinking.

Action

We are increasing the number of high visibility foot patrols to provide public reassurance and tackle local ASB issues.
