Current Priorities
Issue
Theft affecting businesses in Blythe Bridge
Action
Tackling shoplifting continues to be a key focus for our local policing team. Through recent scanning and analysis, we've identified Tesco Express, Uttoxeter Road as a repeat location for theft-related incidents.
These premises have been highlighted due to ongoing reports of thefts affecting businesses, staff, and the wider community. In response, our team is actively working on problem-solving approaches with store management and partners, including:
- High visibility patrols during peak hours
- Targeted offender management; use of Criminal Behaviour Order's for repeat offenders
- Use of CCTV and intelligence sharing
- Crime prevention advice and support for staff
We are committed to reducing shoplifting and supporting local businesses. We will continue to review and adapt our approach based on emerging trends.
We continue to investigate reported incidents at this location with suspects being arrested and criminally prosecuted. We are currently working with our local partners to reach a longer term solution to resolve this local priority
Issue
Anti-social behaviour (ASB), including youth violence is an ongoing priority.
Action
We are working with a range of partners to address root causes of anti-social behaviour in the area. This includes the use of civil injunctions and arresting for criminal offences. Our local policing team is also working closely with Youth Offending Services to reduce this behaviour.
We have recently arrested three juvenile responsible for causing ASB and crime in the area and remain under investigation. We will continue to take decisive action.
We have increased high visibility patrols in hot spot areas
Issue
Vehicle crime and suspicious activity, mainly taking place overnight with insecure vehicles and homes being targeted.
Action
We have worked alongside our forensics and criminal investigation department (CID) colleagues, which has resulted in a number of key arrests and charges being brought against several suspects. This type of offence has seen a decrease more recently, however local officers continue to be vigilant and investigate all reports of suspicious activity in this area. This work remains ongoing.
We have seen an overall reduction in vehicle crime and reports of suspicious activity. Officers continue to patrol hotspot areas during hours of darkness
