Chesterton and Holditch are nestled between Bradwell and Apedale Valley.

Situated approximately 3 miles to the north of the market town of Newcastle-under-Lyme, and previously a mining area, the closure of the collieries in the 1980 s has meant significant and diverse changes.

There is now a different thriving business community with many local schools and a good transport network. The area is served by a number of different churches of varying denominations.

Current Priorities

Issue

Nuisance, off-road motorcycles on greenways and surrounding roads.

Action

Working with partners such as housing, we are collating details of bikes and descriptions of offenders. Through the use of CCTV, drones and fixed wing aircraft in conjunction with our road crime officers to track and locate offending bikes and offenders, a number of vehicle seizures and prosecutions have been made.

We are continuing to use anti-social behaviour legislation to seize and destroy bikes as well as issuing Community Protection Warnings/Notices to tackle repeat offenders. This work is ongoing.
