Current Priorities
Issue
The reported levels of retail crime, both locally and nationally, continue to remain at high levels. This has a significant impact and both large and small retailers resulting in significant financial loss.
Action
To attend every report of retail crime to identify investigative opportunities and crime prevention advice. Ensure positive action is taken. Look to deal with prolific offenders in a robust manner using criminal behaviour of the back of convictions.
Issue
Drug supply and the associated violence has been identified as a key priority within Bury St Edmunds.
Action
Following significant arrests and associated convictions officers continue to tackle the supply of drugs in Bury St Edmunds district. Both the Community Team and Proactive Teams will continue to patrol key locations, act on community intelligence, and look to conduct warrants to target their criminality.
Issue
Since 1st June – 23rd July there has been a notable increase in Residential and Business Burglaries across the district of Bury St Edmunds.
Action
3)This has been adopted as a local priority as well as a Western Command Priority. Taskings have been set for mandatory follow up from the Community Team ensuring all investigative opportunities are considered. Targeted patrols will be conducted in keys areas along ensure increased visibility around key road networks and surrounding villages.
