Current Priorities

Issue

Drug Harm Reduction

Targeting drug related crime in your town through intelligence, enforcement and partnership work.

Police led operations, targeting known areas of drug use and drug dealing, as well as partnership work around known addresses causing drug harm in your area.

Action

Officers for Upperton continue to pay passing attention to areas of reported drug use and drug related ASB following concerns raised by local residents at recent community meetings.

In the last few months officers have been working alongside local authorities to secure closure orders on properties causing drug related ASB, with a property in Upperton recently receiving a 3 months partial closure; restricting anyone but the owner to use/frequent the property.

Patrols continue into the Autumn months, with a number of national days/weeks of action planned in the coming months, including 'County Lines' week targeting drugs, and ASB week later this year.

Issue

Anti-social behaviour (ASB)

Swiftly responding to incidents of ASB and effectively using policing powers available to intervene - including powers of dispersal where the actions of individuals or groups impact their wider surroundings; which can lead to wider harm, including the misuse of public spaces or buildings, criminal damage or vandalism, for example graffiti or damage to public buildings.

•Priority for June - August

•Priority for September - November

Working with partners and youth organisations, including schools and colleges to identify opportunities for early intervention with individuals at risk of causing ASB.

Action

Officers for Upperton continue to commit to daily patrols of the area, including in areas of reported anti-social behaviour (ASB). During the summer months daily patrols averaged 2 hours each patrol, at times reported by local residents as peak times of ASB.

In response to community concerns raised at community meetings around ASB associated with EScooters, officers for Upperton will be conducting targeted patrols and police operations in the area aimed at both educating users around the laws of EScooters, and using powers of seizure if appropriate.
