Current Priorities
Issue
Anti-social behaviour (ASB)
•Priority for June - August
•Priority for September - November
Swiftly responding to incidents of ASB and effectively using policing powers available to intervene - including powers of dispersal where the actions of individuals or groups impact their wider surroundings; which can lead to wider harm, including the misuse of public spaces or buildings, criminal damage or vandalism, for example graffiti or damage to public buildings.
Working with partners and youth organisations, including schools and colleges to identify opportunities for early intervention with individuals at risk of causing ASB.
Addressing and taking action against ASB in the form of nuisance noise, such as noisy cars or motorbikes.
Action
ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN SEPTEMBER – NOVEMBER
Officers for Shinewater continue to commit to daily patrols of their wards, with passing attention being paid to areas reported by residents as areas of heightened ASB.
Officers for the area have also set aside time to conduct patrols at school finishing time, to offer both parents and carers of youngsters attending the local school an opportunity to get to know their ward officer as well as hear regular updates on the work being conducted in your area to help keep everyone safe.
Visits to your local school also continue with planned meetings by your local PCSOs for the coming months.
ACTIONS TAKEN PREVIOUSLY JUNE – AUGUST
Following reports of youth related ASB in areas of Shinewater, including Shalfleet Close, Milfoil Drive and Larkspur Drive officers for the ward have increased patrols to deter and identify those involved.
Patrols for July (last two weeks of July and first two weeks of August) include additional patrols of Shinewater Park, with over 30 patrols in the last 4 weeks, each lasting an average of two hours to offer a police presence in the area.
To further address issues and hear directly from residents affected, officers for the ward have arranged a community meeting at Shinewater Community Gardens on Friday 5th September at 13:30 – 14:30.
