Issue

Tackling Anti-social behaviour (ASB)

•Priority for June - August

•Priority for September - November

Swiftly responding to incidents of ASB and effectively using policing powers available to intervene - including powers of dispersal where the actions of individuals or groups impact their wider surroundings; which can lead to wider harm, including the misuse of public spaces or local parks, criminal damage or vandalism, for example graffiti or damage to public buildings.

Working with partners and youth organisations, including schools and colleges to identify opportunities for early intervention with individuals at risk of causing ASB.

Addressing and taking action against ASB in the form of nuisance noise, such as noisy cars or motorbikes, noisy neighbours, or loud music.

Action

ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN (SEPT-NOV):

PCSOs have arranged future meetings in November to address our ASB issues.

We continue to commit to daily patrols of the park and surrounds, to identify and deter youth related ASB as reported by residents.

ACTIONS TAKEN PREVIOUSLY (JUNE-AUG) :

Hampden Park PCSOs have already committed to additional patrols in the area, in the last 4 weeks alone of July conducting over 30 hours of dedicated patrols in the area both during the day and late evening to deter and identify those involved in ASB.

A day of action was held on 28th July with partners from ESFRS and Neighbourhood First following reports of ASB, arson and litter in the area.

ESFRS spent time engaging with youngsters and park users around the dangers of deliberate fire starting.

Neighbourhood First litter pick teams gathered almost 15 large refuge bags of litter from the top of end of the park by the café, all the way down to the skate park, with large items including trolleys retrieved and removed from the area.

Police are also speaking with Wave Sports Park regarding solutions to ongoing problems with youths breaking into the astro turf, and together with youngsters and council we will work on options that may solve the issue.

Police patrols will continue into the late Summer months and Autumn, with further community and partnership events being planned later this year.
