Drug Harm Reduction

Targeting drug related crime in your town through intelligence, enforcement and partnership work.
Police led operations, targeting known areas of drug use and drug dealing, as well as partnership work around known addresses causing drug harm in your area.
Action
ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN SEPTEMBER – NOVEMBER
Further community meetings to be arranged by ward PCSOs following concerns raised by local residents attending Summer meetings around ASB and drug use in park areas.
PCSOs to use powers available to detain individuals for searches for drug use/supply in the area.
Two weeks of action planned for the coming months, including ASB awareness week which will see additional targeted patrols by local teams, as well as visits to schools, second week of action planned later in the year around drug use and 'County Lines'.
ACTIONS TAKEN PREVIOUSLY JUNE – AUGUST
Local officers continue to respond to reports of drug use and drug community witnessed drug exchanges in areas around Kingsmere and Kings Park.
Patrols have been increased in the last four weeks, with officers paying passing attention to reported areas at peak times to identify individuals involved, and act as a deterrent to those conducting criminal activity in the area.

Anti-social behaviour (ASB)

Swiftly responding to incidents of ASB and effectively using policing powers available to intervene - including powers of dispersal where the actions of individuals or groups impact their wider surroundings; which can lead to wider harm, including the misuse of public spaces or buildings, criminal damage or vandalism, for example graffiti or damage to public buildings.
Working with partners and youth organisations, including schools and colleges to identify opportunities for early intervention with individuals at risk of causing ASB.
Addressing and taking action against ASB in the form of nuisance noise, such as noisy cars or motorbikes, noisy neighbours, loud music, or noise from public houses or late night venues.

ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN SEPTEMBER – NOVEMBER
Continued patrols in areas of reported anti-social behaviour, officers continue to patrol park areas reported during the summers months.
Neighbourhood Youth officers to visit schools in the coming months when Summer half term ends, with focus on raisin awareness of ASB outside of school hours.
ACTIONS TAKEN PREVIOUSLY JUNE – AUGUST
In the last few months officers have received reports of youths smoking cannabis near the Community Hall.
As a result officers have been to visit the Hall and the staff and volunteers who have reported also being harassed by youngsters in the area.
Patrols for the area have been increased, with over 50 foot patrols conducted in the last 4 weeks for the area, averaging 3 hours per patrol each shift your ward officers are on - we will continue to conduct increased patrols in areas where communities have reported issues with youngsters, and your Neighbourhood Youth Officers have been made aware so that visits to schools can be planned for the return after Summer break to speak to groups around the consequences their actions may have on the lives of local residents and workers.
