Current Priorities
Issue
Anti-social behaviour (ASB)
•Priority for June - August
•Priority for September - November
Swiftly responding to incidents of ASB and effectively using policing powers available to intervene - including powers of dispersal where the actions of individuals or groups impact their wider surroundings; which can lead to wider harm, including the misuse of public spaces or buildings, criminal damage or vandalism, for example graffiti or damage to public buildings.
Working with partners and youth organisations, including schools and colleges to identify opportunities for early intervention with individuals at risk of causing ASB.
Addressing and taking action against ASB in the form of nuisance noise, such as noisy cars.
Action
ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN SEPTEMBER – NOVEMBER
Officers for your ward to increase patrols around school finishings times, to meet with parents/carers to speak about ASB in the area, as well as continue patrols of reported areas of ASB in the area.
Neighbourhood Youth Officers to visit schools to pick up where left off prior to summer half term, assemblies and talks to be held in schools around ASB and low impact crimes.
PCSOs for your ward planning joint days of action with local partners to address concerns raised at previous community meetings, including ongoing ASB around the Langney Shopping Centre.
ACTIONS TAKEN PREVIOUSLY JUNE – AUGUST
Reports of youth related ASB in areas of Langney, namely in and around the Langney Shopping centre, and extending into areas of the Tugwell Park.
End of July into August saw local PCSOs conduct additional patrols at peak reporting times to identify and engage with those causing a nuisance to communities, with patrols averaging 2 hours per shift.
Your Neighbourhood Youth Officer has also spent time in local schools prior to the Summer half term with over 10 visits to schools to engage with youngsters, and look at encouraging them into local groups or sports events over the coming months as an alternative to causing ASB in the area.

•Priority for September - November

Action
ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN SEPTEMBER – NOVEMBER
Ongoing work with Langney Shopping Centre to identify areas subject to drug exchanges, with officers committing to patrols around the area to act as a deterrent and to identify those involved.
ACTIONS TAKEN PREVIOUSLY JUNE – AUGUST
Reports of individuals involved in potential drug exchanges around the local shops in Langney.
During the course of recent patrols officers have not identified individuals, and hope that through additional patrols these have acted as a deterrent to those conducting exchanges in the area, should further incidents be witnessed by communities, your local ward officer encourages communities to report those at the times so that further patrols can be conducted.
In the last four week patrols for the Langney area have averaged at 2 patrols per shift, averaging at 2 hours per patrol.
