Current Priorities
Issue
Shoplifting
Action
We continue to conduct daily high-visibility patrols in response to concerns raised by the local community. These proactive deployments have already led to several arrests, demonstrating our commitment to tackling crime and anti-social behaviour head-on.
Officers are regularly engaging with local businesses to offer reassurance, gather intelligence, and provide tailored crime prevention advice. This collaborative approach is helping to build trust and strengthen our partnership with the community.
The recent roll-out of the DISC system in Rother has significantly enhanced our ability to respond swiftly and effectively. This platform enables local shops and businesses to share real-time information about incidents and individuals of concern, improving communication and coordination between police and the business community. By identifying repeat offenders and sharing intelligence, we are working together to prevent crime and keep our neighbourhoods safe.
Issue
Anti-social behaviour
Action
We are intensifying our efforts to tackle anti-social behaviour through targeted, high-visibility patrols in identified hotspot areas. Officers are proactively identifying individuals responsible and addressing their behaviour through a range of proportionate and preventative measures.
These include delivering words of advice, building positive relationships with young people, engaging with parents and guardians, conducting community surveys to better understand local concerns, and issuing Community Protection Warnings (CPWs) where appropriate. This multi-faceted approach is designed to mitigate harm, prevent escalation, and provide early intervention.
Issue
Public Place Violent Crime
Action
We have significantly increased high-visibility patrols, particularly during late evenings and night-time economy hours, to deter violent behaviour and respond swiftly to any emerging incidents. Our officers also maintain a strong daytime presence to prevent disorder and provide visible reassurance to the public.
Through proactive policing, we have taken robust action against those involved in violent disorder. Arrests have been made where offences have occurred, and we continue to use the full range of policing powers available, including dispersal orders and Criminal Behaviour Orders, to disrupt offending and prevent further harm.
We are working closely with partner agencies to raise awareness of available support channels, reporting mechanisms, and safety advice remains central to our approach.
Our strategy is rooted in prevention, early intervention, and firm enforcement.
