Current Priorities

Issue

Speeding

Action

We’ve continued to work closely with Speedwatch volunteers across the Brede Valley, alongside our own policing colleagues, to address concerns around speeding. This joint approach has involved both the recording of speeding incidents and active enforcement where necessary. Officers have carried out targeted speed checks in areas identified as high-risk, issuing warnings and taking enforcement action where appropriate. These efforts are part of a wider strategy to educate drivers and raise awareness of the serious dangers associated with excessive speed, particularly in rural communities where pedestrians, cyclists, and livestock are often present. Through visible policing and community engagement, we aim to promote safer driving habits and reduce the likelihood of speed-related incidents.

Issue

Anti-social behaviour

Action

We have conducted high-visibility patrols in response to reports of anti-social behaviour (ASB) across Brede Valley, with particular attention given to youth-related incidents and the illegal use of off-road motorcycles on public roads. These patrols are aimed at both deterring disruptive behaviour and reassuring the local community. Officers have engaged directly with young people and their guardians, offering guidance and support while reinforcing the consequences of unsafe or unlawful activity. Our efforts have been focused on the areas most affected, allowing us to build positive relationships, address concerns early, and work collaboratively with residents to reduce ASB and improve community safety.
