Current Priorities
Issue
Drug Harm Reduction
Targeting drug related crime in your town through intelligence, enforcement and partnership work.
Police led operations, targeting known areas of drug use and drug dealing, as well as partnership work around known addresses causing drug harm in your area.
Action
Officers for your ward continue to prioritise reducing drug harm in your communities.
Throughout the summer months officers have increased their patrols in areas of reported drug use/drug exchanges in the area, to not only act as a deterrent but to identify those causing drug related harm in your communities.
In the coming months, (September-November) a number of national campaigns launch, including a week of action around 'cuckooing' and 'county lines', as well as our crack down on drink and drug driving into the winter months; all aimed at helping to identify problem areas, take action and reduce drug related harm across your town.
Issue
Anti-social behaviour (ASB)
Swiftly responding to incidents of ASB and effectively using policing powers available to intervene - including powers of dispersal where the actions of individuals or groups impact their wider surroundings; which can lead to wider harm, including the misuse of public spaces or buildings, criminal damage or vandalism, for example graffiti or damage to public buildings.
Working with partners and youth organisations, including schools and colleges to identify opportunities for early intervention with individuals at risk of causing ASB.
Addressing and taking action against ASB in the form of nuisance noise, such as noisy cars or motorbikes.
Action
Throughout the summer months, patrols around the estate and into the park behind Tesco have continued, with officers spending time in the local park and skate parks to engage with youngsters.
Whilst the vast majority of park users enjoy the facilities responsibly, officers have responded to a small number of reports of criminal damage and vandalism in the area over the last few months - officers are working with local authorities to address these issues and take a partnership approach to find resolutions.
