Current Priorities
Issue
Antisocial Behaviour (ASB) including alcohol related ASB
Action
Working with local shops and colleagues in licensing around the sale and consumption of alcohol. Referrals to external support agencies to help with drink and drug addiction.
Issue
Antisocial Behaviour (ASB) Youth Related
Action
The Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to carry out regular patrols, focusing on areas where reports of ASB have been made.
We work closely with partners to tackle this type of behaviour, identify those responsible, and manage persistent offenders and locations.
We also continue to carry out intervention work with local schools and youth groups through our dedicated Neighbourhood Youth Officers.
Issue
E-Scooters in Public Places
Action
In the first instance, we provide an educative approach on the legality of the use of e-scooters in Sussex through targeted patrol activities.
It is not currently possible to get insurance for privately owned e-scooters. This means it’s illegal to use them on the road or in public spaces, such as parks, street pavements, and shopping centres.
If you use a privately-owned e-scooter in public, you risk the vehicle being seized under S.165 Road Traffic Act 1988 for having no insurance.
If you cause serious harm to another person whilst riding an e-scooter, the incident will be investigated in the same way it would if you were riding a motorcycle or driving a car.
