Every neighbourhood in Thames Valley has a dedicated Neighbourhood Policing team.

Neighbourhood Policing teams can be contacted via 101, the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number. Always call 999 in an emergency.

Neighbourhood Policing teams…
  • Are led by senior police officers and include police community support officers (PCSOs), often together with volunteer police officers, volunteers and partners.
  • May serve one or several neighbourhoods.
  • Work with local people and partners to identify, tackle and prevent local, low-level crime, anti-social behaviour, and any ongoing concerns.
  • Provide you with a visible, accessible and accountable police service and aim to make your neighbourhood safer.
  • Have been present in every Thames Valley neighbourhood since 1 April 2008.
  • Focus all of their efforts on their dedicated neighbourhoods, building relationships with local people.
Neighbourhood Policing…
  • Needs you to tell us about the issues that concern you in your area.
  • Has transformed policing at a local level, to meet the needs of local communities.
  • Is known as ‘Safer Neighbourhoods’ in Milton Keynes.

Have Your Say logo From the start of 2010, Thames Valley Police extended its neighbourhood consultation by introducing a wider range of publicised opportunities to meet neighbourhood teams.

We will provide open monthly meetings to allow the public to influence our priorities. These meetings will be branded as Have Your Say opportunities, and in many cases will be held in conjunction with partners.

Once local priorities have been identified, a broader ‘toolkit’ of problem-solving tactics is being made available to ensure crime and anti-social behaviour is tackled effectively.

Across the Thames Valley area, there are many successful Neighbourhood Action Groups which will continue to deliver local problem solving, but the introduction of Have Your Say meetings will allow neighbourhood teams to identify more quickly those specific local priorities that need attention.

Thames Valley Police views the introduction of Have Your Say meetings as a positive step in tackling issues that matter most to the public. I welcome your support and engagement in this endeavour.

Reports of drug dealing, drugs misuse and cannabis smoking in Stonesfield

Action

Through proactive policing and strong community engagement, we’ve refined our patrol strategy, ensuring a more targeted approach to crime prevention.
Thanks to increased visibility and interaction, reports of incidents and concerns have noticeably declined. Our ongoing patrols in Stonesfield remain focused on tackling drug-related issues, using appropriate policing powers to deter criminal activity and enhance safety.
We appreciate the continued support from residents and businesses, whose cooperation helps shape our response and drive meaningful progress toward a safer community.

Issue

ASB has been reported within Woodstock, with particular issues in the centre, and by local stores between 3pm and 4pm week days - after children have left school for the day.

There have also been reports of ASB in Stonesfield, especially outside local stores, and in some residential areas. The ASB has taken the form of drugs misuse, anti-social behaviour from teenagers, and vehicle speeding/poor standard of driving.

Action

We remain committed to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment in Woodstock and are aware of some minor instances of anti-social behaviour in the town centre. We continue to work proactively to address these concerns, ensuring our high-visibility presence remains effective. Our close collaboration with local stores during school start and finish times has helped strengthen community engagement, deter problematic behaviour, and provide education on key issues highlighted in recent surveys. Support from surrounding neighbourhoods has been invaluable in reinforcing these efforts, and we appreciate the ongoing cooperation that makes a positive difference

In Stonesfield, we have incorporated this area into our regular patrols, carrying out frequent visits and actively engaging with both the public and local businesses. Thanks to their cooperation, we’ve seen a noticeable decline in reported issues, contributing to a safer and more positive community environment. Feedback from residents suggests that our continued presence has significantly eased initial concerns, with some individuals even stepping away from previously problematic behaviours.

Issue

Increase in Motor Vehicle Thefts Reported

Action

We are pleased to report that there have been very few incidents recently, reflecting the positive impact of our patrols and ongoing community engagement. While this progress is encouraging, we remain committed to ensuring these areas stay safe.

Our visible presence across beauty hotspots continues to deter crime and provide reassurance to visitors. We have also been actively engaging with members of the public, offering advice on vehicle security and sharing crime prevention tips to further reduce risks.

We appreciate the support and vigilance of the community in maintaining these improvements, and through continued collaboration, we can keep strengthening safety for all
