Every neighbourhood in Thames Valley has a dedicated Neighbourhood Policing team.

Neighbourhood Policing teams can be contacted via 101, the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number. Always call 999 in an emergency.

Neighbourhood Policing teams…
  • Are led by senior police officers and include police community support officers (PCSOs), often together with volunteer police officers, volunteers and partners.
  • May serve one or several neighbourhoods.
  • Work with local people and partners to identify, tackle and prevent local, low-level crime, anti-social behaviour, and any ongoing concerns.
  • Provide you with a visible, accessible and accountable police service and aim to make your neighbourhood safer.
  • Have been present in every Thames Valley neighbourhood since 1 April 2008.
  • Focus all of their efforts on their dedicated neighbourhoods, building relationships with local people.
Neighbourhood Policing…
  • Needs you to tell us about the issues that concern you in your area.
  • Has transformed policing at a local level, to meet the needs of local communities.
  • Is known as ‘Safer Neighbourhoods’ in Milton Keynes.

Have Your Say logo From the start of 2010, Thames Valley Police extended its neighbourhood consultation by introducing a wider range of publicised opportunities to meet neighbourhood teams.

We will provide open monthly meetings to allow the public to influence our priorities. These meetings will be branded as Have Your Say opportunities, and in many cases will be held in conjunction with partners.

Once local priorities have been identified, a broader ‘toolkit’ of problem-solving tactics is being made available to ensure crime and anti-social behaviour is tackled effectively.

Across the Thames Valley area, there are many successful Neighbourhood Action Groups which will continue to deliver local problem solving, but the introduction of Have Your Say meetings will allow neighbourhood teams to identify more quickly those specific local priorities that need attention.

Thames Valley Police views the introduction of Have Your Say meetings as a positive step in tackling issues that matter most to the public. I welcome your support and engagement in this endeavour.

Current Priorities

Issue

Antisocial behaviour was voted as one of the priority issues by local residents following the latest community survey.
The main issue in Aylesbury North since SEPTEMBER 2024 was reports in ELMHURST and other parts of AYLESBURY that a female was going door-to-door asking people for money. This female was identified and is currently serving a prison sentance.
ASB in Aylesbury North from 01/04/2024 - 28/03/2025 showed there were 60 reported incidents for that period (ASB crimes). This was down by 17 from the previous year whereby 77 incidents were reported. This shows a reduction of 22%.

Action

The local neighbourhood policing team continue to work towards reducing ASB involving begging door to door. This will be measured by comparing previous numbers of reports to those moving forward upon the known offenders release.
Actions include a specific officer monitoring reports involving this individual and act accordingly along with providing reassurance to those affected. The officer responded to partnership intel which led to the arrest of the offender for breaching bail conditions. A second successful arrest was conducted late April where the same offender was recalled to prison. UPDATE: offender breached bail again in May and was found and arrested with remand sought. This is preventative policing from the Neighbourhood team as it prevents her further offending. We will communicate all outcomes of action to the community via social media.
This priority will be reviewed 30th monthly and actions reassessed if needed.
If you have any information please report via 101 or online at www.thamesvalley.police.uk
Call 999 if crime in progress or you are at risk of harm.

Issue

Drugs were voted as one of the priority issues by local residents following a community survey. .
A lot of the drug related issues on Aylesbury North are within the Elmhurst area of Aylesbury. The local Neighbourhood team have been informed by local residents during patrols that there is drug dealing in the area surrounding Alfred Rose Park. These areas are specifically within the park itself, the alleyway that leads to the old community centre on Fairfax crescent and by the side of the shops on Dunsham Lane.

Action

The local neighbourhood policing team are working to combat drug related crime and Anti-Social behaviour caused by drugs.
We will measure improvement by comparing previous numbers of reports to those numbers moving forward.
Actions to include hi-visibility foot patrols being conducted around the park and the area surrounding the shops at all times of day. Marked vehicle patrols will also be conducted in the area. Individuals to be stop checked. Engagement with local residents to gather intel and identify offenders. Update: Minimal reports regarding ASB in Alfred Rose park during April 25 due to increased foot patrols and regular engagement. A partial closure order was also obtained in Pluto Way to disrupt drug activity. UPDATE: May partial closure order obtained for Westwood Walk.
This priority will be reviewed 30th monthly to check progress and reassess actions to ensure progress is being made.

Issue

In the latest community survey, Speeding was highlighted as a concern and made a priority for the Aylesbury North neighbourhood policing team. As this is a new priority for the team, the following areas will be looked at first from local council feedback:
A413 between Berryfields and Buckingham Park
Watermead (main road into Watermead)
Paradise Orchard
Prince Rupert Drive

Action

The neighbourhood team will be looking to improve community safety and reducing speeding as highlighted in the latest community survey.
As a new priority we will conduct speeding surveys by end of June and use these figures as a starting benchmark moving forward. Future results will be compared to these to see if improvements are being made. Results to be shared in June/July updates.
Actions to include speed survey operations by 30th June, followed up by speed gun operations in July/Aug. All results to be shared.
This priority will be reviewed 30th monthly to ensure progress being made and actions reassessed where needed.
