Every neighbourhood in Thames Valley has a dedicated Neighbourhood Policing team.

Neighbourhood Policing teams can be contacted via 101, the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number. Always call 999 in an emergency.

Neighbourhood Policing teams…
  • Are led by senior police officers and include police community support officers (PCSOs), often together with volunteer police officers, volunteers and partners.
  • May serve one or several neighbourhoods.
  • Work with local people and partners to identify, tackle and prevent local, low-level crime, anti-social behaviour, and any ongoing concerns.
  • Provide you with a visible, accessible and accountable police service and aim to make your neighbourhood safer.
  • Have been present in every Thames Valley neighbourhood since 1 April 2008.
  • Focus all of their efforts on their dedicated neighbourhoods, building relationships with local people.
Neighbourhood Policing…
  • Needs you to tell us about the issues that concern you in your area.
  • Has transformed policing at a local level, to meet the needs of local communities.
  • Is known as ‘Safer Neighbourhoods’ in Milton Keynes.

Have Your Say logo From the start of 2010, Thames Valley Police extended its neighbourhood consultation by introducing a wider range of publicised opportunities to meet neighbourhood teams.

We will provide open monthly meetings to allow the public to influence our priorities. These meetings will be branded as Have Your Say opportunities, and in many cases will be held in conjunction with partners.

Once local priorities have been identified, a broader ‘toolkit’ of problem-solving tactics is being made available to ensure crime and anti-social behaviour is tackled effectively.

Across the Thames Valley area, there are many successful Neighbourhood Action Groups which will continue to deliver local problem solving, but the introduction of Have Your Say meetings will allow neighbourhood teams to identify more quickly those specific local priorities that need attention.

Thames Valley Police views the introduction of Have Your Say meetings as a positive step in tackling issues that matter most to the public. I welcome your support and engagement in this endeavour.

Current Priorities

Issue

Speeding in : Padbury, Gawcott, Maids Moreton, Tingewick Rd, Buckingham was voted as a priority in the August 2025 community survey.

Action

The neighbourhood policing team are working to continue Improving community safety by reducing speeding in Padbury, Gawcott, Maids Moreton, Tingewick Road, Buckingham, as per the latest community survey.
We will measure improvements by comparing speed survey results each month and identifying worst hit areas to conduct full speed enforcement operations with Roads policing.
Further Speed gun days of action to be completed this quarter and results shared in future updates..
We aim to Reduce and deal with speeding offences. This priority to be reviewed quarterly as per community survey results and actions reviewed 30th monthly to ensure progress.

Issue

Anti-Social Behaviour was voted a priority in the August 2025 community survey.

Action

The local neighbourhood policing team are working to reduce ASB involving youth in Chandos Park, Skate Park, Bourton Park, Candleford Court and Hunter Street. . We will measure improvement by comparing numbers of previous reports to those numbers moving forward. August 2025 saw 22 recorded incidents of which 10 were community and 4 personal. Following on from a joint walk about with the council, areas with high dense greenery and bushes have been cut back to improve visibility and reduce ASB. Please report any similar areas that may need cutting on the council 'Fix my Street' process.
Actions to include partnership working with local council
to complete ongoing Environmental Visual Audits. Hi visibility patrols and engagement with locals to deter and identify offenders. We are using the council fix my street system to report all graffiti or other ASB.
These actions will be reviewed 30th monthly to ensure progress and reassess actions and make changes if no progress being made. Priority to be reviewed quarterly as per community survey results. Details of results to be shared in future updates.

Issue

Drugs and related crime was voted a priority in the August 2025 community survey

Action

The neighbourhood team are working to reduce drug related crime in Buckingham and surrounding areas.
We will compare numbers of reports from this month to those moving forward to ensure progress is being made. In August 2025 2 recorded possession of drugs offences. Warning letters are issued and repeat offending can be dealt with through the courts.
Actions to include hi visibility patrols, partnership working to gather intel and working with local residents to identify offenders.
The actions will be reviewed 30th monthly to ensure progress and the priority will be reviewed quarterly as per community survey results.
