Every neighbourhood in Thames Valley has a dedicated Neighbourhood Policing team.

Neighbourhood Policing teams can be contacted via 101, the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number. Always call 999 in an emergency.

Neighbourhood Policing teams…
  • Are led by senior police officers and include police community support officers (PCSOs), often together with volunteer police officers, volunteers and partners.
  • May serve one or several neighbourhoods.
  • Work with local people and partners to identify, tackle and prevent local, low-level crime, anti-social behaviour, and any ongoing concerns.
  • Provide you with a visible, accessible and accountable police service and aim to make your neighbourhood safer.
  • Have been present in every Thames Valley neighbourhood since 1 April 2008.
  • Focus all of their efforts on their dedicated neighbourhoods, building relationships with local people.

  • Needs you to tell us about the issues that concern you in your area.
  • Has transformed policing at a local level, to meet the needs of local communities.
  • Is known as ‘Safer Neighbourhoods’ in Milton Keynes.

Have Your Say logo From the start of 2010, Thames Valley Police extended its neighbourhood consultation by introducing a wider range of publicised opportunities to meet neighbourhood teams.

We will provide open monthly meetings to allow the public to influence our priorities. These meetings will be branded as Have Your Say opportunities, and in many cases will be held in conjunction with partners.

Once local priorities have been identified, a broader ‘toolkit’ of problem-solving tactics is being made available to ensure crime and anti-social behaviour is tackled effectively.

Across the Thames Valley area, there are many successful Neighbourhood Action Groups which will continue to deliver local problem solving, but the introduction of Have Your Say meetings will allow neighbourhood teams to identify more quickly those specific local priorities that need attention.

Thames Valley Police views the introduction of Have Your Say meetings as a positive step in tackling issues that matter most to the public. I welcome your support and engagement in this endeavour.

Current Priorities

Issue

Speeding in North Marston, Whitchurch, Newton Longville and Winslow was highlighted as a priority in the latest community survey.

Action

The local neighbourhood policing team are working to improve community safety by reducing speeding, Winslow, North Marston, Whitchurch, Newton Longville
.Improvements will be measured by comparing statistics from March to 30th June, based on speed gun results.
Actions to include Liaising with speed watch groups and Parish Councils by end of June. Further Speed gun operational days of action to be completed and results shared in July update. JUNE UPDATE: Speed enforcement completed 29/5 in Newton Longville, 1 driver stopped doing 37 in 30 zone. Further op in Swanbourne, driver stopped at 34 mph.
We aim to Reduce and deal with speeding violations. and make our community safer.
This priority will be reviewed and evaluated at the end of each month to review and adapt further actions if required pending results. Results to be published in future updates

Burglaries and /or attempted burglaries in rural locations in and around Winslow and surrounding villages was highlighted as a priority in the latest community survey.

Action

The local neighbourhood policing team is working to Reduce the number of burglaries and /or attempted burglaries in rural locations in and around Winslow and surrounding villages.
We will measure improvements by comparing incidents/reports from May through to 30th July and share results in Aug update. UPDATE: 1 recorded burglary to end of May.
Actions to include visits to local Farms and businesses by the 30th June. Disseminate crime prevention advice, use social media.
We aim to Reduce burglaries in the farming community and rural businesses. Build intelligence to identify offenders.
This priority will be reviewed 30th monthly and adapt further actions if required. Results to be published in future updates.

Issue

Anti-social behaviour in all park areas patrol, bowls club and football ground was highlighted as a priority in the latest community survey.

Action

The local neighbourhood policing team is working to reduce ASB incidents/reports at the locations: Winslow Park Areas, football ground and bowls club as per the latest community survey.
We will measure improvements by comparing incidents/reports from May through to July based on crime and intelligence reports and stats. Results to be shared in Aug update. MAY UPDATE: Meeting held with Winslow Town Council on the 15/05, discussing issues at Shipton lay by and on-going issues. Plan agreed to move forward, clear away rubbish.
Actions to include meeting and engage with youths along with working closely with the Town Council.
We aim to reduce the number of incidents/reports. Deal with offenders robustly and in a timely manner.
This priority will be reviewed 30th monthly and adapt actions if needed. Results to be published in the future updates.
