Operated by: Thames Valley Police
https://www.thamesvalley.police.ukEvery neighbourhood in Thames Valley has a dedicated Neighbourhood Policing team.
Neighbourhood Policing teams can be contacted via 101, the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number. Always call 999 in an emergency.
Neighbourhood Policing teams…- Are led by senior police officers and include police community support officers (PCSOs), often together with volunteer police officers, volunteers and partners.
- May serve one or several neighbourhoods.
- Work with local people and partners to identify, tackle and prevent local, low-level crime, anti-social behaviour, and any ongoing concerns.
- Provide you with a visible, accessible and accountable police service and aim to make your neighbourhood safer.
- Have been present in every Thames Valley neighbourhood since 1 April 2008.
- Focus all of their efforts on their dedicated neighbourhoods, building relationships with local people.
- Needs you to tell us about the issues that concern you in your area.
- Has transformed policing at a local level, to meet the needs of local communities.
- Is known as ‘Safer Neighbourhoods’ in Milton Keynes.
From the start of 2010, Thames Valley Police extended its neighbourhood consultation by introducing a wider range of publicised opportunities to meet neighbourhood teams.
We will provide open monthly meetings to allow the public to influence our priorities. These meetings will be branded as Have Your Say opportunities, and in many cases will be held in conjunction with partners.
Once local priorities have been identified, a broader ‘toolkit’ of problem-solving tactics is being made available to ensure crime and anti-social behaviour is tackled effectively.
Across the Thames Valley area, there are many successful Neighbourhood Action Groups which will continue to deliver local problem solving, but the introduction of Have Your Say meetings will allow neighbourhood teams to identify more quickly those specific local priorities that need attention.
Thames Valley Police views the introduction of Have Your Say meetings as a positive step in tackling issues that matter most to the public. I welcome your support and engagement in this endeavour.

Issue
Speeding
Speeding has been identified as an issue in our rural villages. Community Speedwatch is running in some villages with others looking to set up schemes in their areas.
The Neighbourhood Team are happy to support this where available and contact details are given.
Roads Policing colleagues have been asked to provide support in the Clifton area based on recent evidence provided by the CSW volunteers.
Action
JULY UPDATE:
The Neighbourhood Team have worked alongside colleagues from Roads Policing on Operation Scalis, a targeted operation funded by the Motor Insurance Bureau. This primarily targets non insured drivers however the vary nature of the operation leads us to identifying careless driving and other road traffic related offences. Our day of action in June led to 3 arrests of persons suspected of driving under the influence of drugs.
We continue to promote Community Speedwatch to residents and we are also seeking training for our own officers to be able to support these initiatives.
The Safety Camera data is available from June and shows 516 offences detected from mobile cameras across Cherwell during the month.
Issue
Parking - particularly around schools - all areas however Bloxham a repeat area of concern.
Local residents have made representations around anti social and illegal parking in the area. This is particularly around schools at drop off and pick up time.
The Banbury Neighbourhood Team PCSOs are all tasked with high visibility patrols around the schools during these times. These patrols will take place at both our rural and urban school locations and take place when shifts allow. PCSOs can give fixed penalty tickets where appropriate and are supported by Police Officers from the team. Schools are encouraged to continue with their own messaging to parents around this and we have close links with the schools so that any ongoing issues can be raised to us promptly.
Action
JULY UPDATE:
As we enter the school holidays there is less targeted activity over the summer months however we shall keep as a priority as no dount the issues will arise again come September.
We have received updates from Bloxham Parish Council that they are running a pavement parking campaign and some white lines have been introduced at junctions in order to deter poor parking near the junctions. Double yellow lines have been requested on Courtington Lane which has been approved by Oxfordshire County Council and we are now just waiting for these works to be completed.
Issue
Theft / Burglaries across rural villages.
There has been an increase in theft from people's properties and vehicles across our rural villages
Action
JULY UPDATE:
The Neighbourhood Team have been working closely with colleagues from our Priority Crime and Rural Crime Teams to identify any potential suspects and support these investigations.
We have held crime prevention surgeries in Broughton where we have been able to update residents and provide items such as key blockers to help deter such crime.
