Every neighbourhood in Thames Valley has a dedicated Neighbourhood Policing team.

Neighbourhood Policing teams can be contacted via 101, the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number. Always call 999 in an emergency.

Neighbourhood Policing teams…
  • Are led by senior police officers and include police community support officers (PCSOs), often together with volunteer police officers, volunteers and partners.
  • May serve one or several neighbourhoods.
  • Work with local people and partners to identify, tackle and prevent local, low-level crime, anti-social behaviour, and any ongoing concerns.
  • Provide you with a visible, accessible and accountable police service and aim to make your neighbourhood safer.
  • Have been present in every Thames Valley neighbourhood since 1 April 2008.
  • Focus all of their efforts on their dedicated neighbourhoods, building relationships with local people.

  • Needs you to tell us about the issues that concern you in your area.
  • Has transformed policing at a local level, to meet the needs of local communities.
  • Is known as ‘Safer Neighbourhoods’ in Milton Keynes.

Have Your Say logo From the start of 2010, Thames Valley Police extended its neighbourhood consultation by introducing a wider range of publicised opportunities to meet neighbourhood teams.

We will provide open monthly meetings to allow the public to influence our priorities. These meetings will be branded as Have Your Say opportunities, and in many cases will be held in conjunction with partners.

Once local priorities have been identified, a broader ‘toolkit’ of problem-solving tactics is being made available to ensure crime and anti-social behaviour is tackled effectively.

Across the Thames Valley area, there are many successful Neighbourhood Action Groups which will continue to deliver local problem solving, but the introduction of Have Your Say meetings will allow neighbourhood teams to identify more quickly those specific local priorities that need attention.

Thames Valley Police views the introduction of Have Your Say meetings as a positive step in tackling issues that matter most to the public. I welcome your support and engagement in this endeavour.

Current Priorities

Issue

Violent Crime / Weapon carrying and drug dealing on Oldbrook & Fishermead

Action

High visibility patrols conducted by your local Neighbourhood Team. Target hardening and engagement with members of the local community to gather information & intelligence. Proactive stop searches have been carried out on nominals frequenting the area to reduce fear & violence. An increase in patrols within the local estates and red ways to deter offending. A successful plain clothes operation was completed whereby 4 people were stop & searched and one suspect arrested for a knife offence.

Issue

Anti-social behaviour Issues including drug activity, begging, street drinking Netherfield & Tinkers Bridge

Action

High visibility patrols and engagement with known offenders, members of the community and local shop owners. Your local Neighbourhood Team have been working in partnership with local authorities to enforce the Public Space Protection Order (PSPO). We want to ensure local residents feel safe attending the local shops within the Netherfield estate. NHPT are working together with partner agencies to identify a problem solving approach to tackle the ongoing ASB.

Issue

ASB related vehicle offences. Reports of individuals riding motorbikes on Redways and open spaces within Coffee Hall, Netherfield, Oldbrook & Bleakhall etc

Action

The local Neighbourhood Team have worked and will continue to work alongside the Roads Policing team to proactively patrol & identify offenders using off road bikes within the community. Regular patrols of the red ways have been completed to deter individuals using motorbikes.

Issue

ASB within the area of Tinkers Bridge.

Action

Despite seeing a 9% decrease in ASB reports; the NHPT have seen an increase in Theft offences and youth related ASB. TVP have received reports of youths climbing scaffolding within the area that causes concern. TVP are working with partners to ensure no unnecessary scaffolding is left. NHPT are engaging with local nominals to provide guidance and education.

Issue

Increase in ASB whereby off road bikes are being used antisocially within Coffee Hall, Oldbrook, Bleakhall, Peartree Bridge and Woughton on the Green.

Action

NHPT has seen an increase in ASB related use of off road bikes. This has caused a significant nuisance to the local community, NHPT are working with Road policing teams to proactively identify and target offenders. NHPT will continue to monitor hot spot areas to target during specified times.
