Neighbourhood Policing teams…- Are led by senior police officers and include police community support officers (PCSOs), often together with volunteer police officers, volunteers and partners.
- May serve one or several neighbourhoods.
- Work with local people and partners to identify, tackle and prevent local, low-level crime, anti-social behaviour, and any ongoing concerns.
- Provide you with a visible, accessible and accountable police service and aim to make your neighbourhood safer.
- Have been present in every Thames Valley neighbourhood since 1 April 2008.
- Focus all of their efforts on their dedicated neighbourhoods, building relationships with local people.
- Needs you to tell us about the issues that concern you in your area.
- Has transformed policing at a local level, to meet the needs of local communities.
- Is known as ‘Safer Neighbourhoods’ in Milton Keynes.
From the start of 2010, Thames Valley Police extended its neighbourhood consultation by introducing a wider range of publicised opportunities to meet neighbourhood teams.
We will provide open monthly meetings to allow the public to influence our priorities. These meetings will be branded as Have Your Say opportunities, and in many cases will be held in conjunction with partners.

Across the Thames Valley area, there are many successful Neighbourhood Action Groups which will continue to deliver local problem solving, but the introduction of Have Your Say meetings will allow neighbourhood teams to identify more quickly those specific local priorities that need attention.
Thames Valley Police views the introduction of Have Your Say meetings as a positive step in tackling issues that matter most to the public. I welcome your support and engagement in this endeavour.

Current Priorities
Issue
Inconsiderate and illegal riding of motorcycles and electric scooters in recreational areas along with vehicles causing issues in community car parks and near community centres in Emmer Green. Youths gathering and causing issues in public areas, including Mapledurham Playing Fields along the river and in public parks.
Action
Key areas are being patrolled on a regular basis and officers are working closely with ASB council workers and sharing information regarding any ongoing issues and persons involved. The police horses have joined us to address these issues and increase our effectiveness in the open areas.
Issue
Retail crime - Repeated shopliftings at the same stores within Caversham and finding a long term solution to stores that disproportionately targeted by offenders.
Action
Fast time identification of suspects for shoplifting and working closely with stores to identify offenders and gather evidence as quickly as possible for early arrests. As well as investigating reported offences we are carrying out plain clothes patrols and monitoring of locations at key times to catch offenders actively stealing.
We are working with stores to make the staff feel safe and supported.
A prolific violent offender has recently been charged with a number of offences in Caversham and remains in prison.
Issue
Acquisitive crime, including business burglaries and theft of personal property, along with identifying and prosecuting violent shoplifters.
Action
NHPT are monitoring daily reports for incidents of interest or patterns of offending. Officers are taking ownership of investigations wherever possible and liaising with victims to ensure best possible service is delivered, golden hour enquiries are completed and evidence obtained is maximised. Beyond the reports, officers are liaising with business owners, community leaders and residents to identify any further issues or evidence they can provide.
