Every neighbourhood in Thames Valley has a dedicated Neighbourhood Policing team.

Neighbourhood Policing teams can be contacted via 101, the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number. Always call 999 in an emergency.

Neighbourhood Policing teams…
  • Are led by senior police officers and include police community support officers (PCSOs), often together with volunteer police officers, volunteers and partners.
  • May serve one or several neighbourhoods.
  • Work with local people and partners to identify, tackle and prevent local, low-level crime, anti-social behaviour, and any ongoing concerns.
  • Provide you with a visible, accessible and accountable police service and aim to make your neighbourhood safer.
  • Have been present in every Thames Valley neighbourhood since 1 April 2008.
  • Focus all of their efforts on their dedicated neighbourhoods, building relationships with local people.
Neighbourhood Policing…
  • Needs you to tell us about the issues that concern you in your area.
  • Has transformed policing at a local level, to meet the needs of local communities.
  • Is known as ‘Safer Neighbourhoods’ in Milton Keynes.

Have Your Say logo From the start of 2010, Thames Valley Police extended its neighbourhood consultation by introducing a wider range of publicised opportunities to meet neighbourhood teams.

We will provide open monthly meetings to allow the public to influence our priorities. These meetings will be branded as Have Your Say opportunities, and in many cases will be held in conjunction with partners.

Once local priorities have been identified, a broader ‘toolkit’ of problem-solving tactics is being made available to ensure crime and anti-social behaviour is tackled effectively.

Across the Thames Valley area, there are many successful Neighbourhood Action Groups which will continue to deliver local problem solving, but the introduction of Have Your Say meetings will allow neighbourhood teams to identify more quickly those specific local priorities that need attention.

Thames Valley Police views the introduction of Have Your Say meetings as a positive step in tackling issues that matter most to the public. I welcome your support and engagement in this endeavour.

Current Priorities

Issue

In the recent neighbourhood priorities survey, burglary was voted as one of the top priority for their local neighbourhood team to focus on. Burnham has recently seen an increase in burglaries

Action

The team will continue with burglary prevention efforts. This includes high visibility patrols in areas with increased reports of burglaries.
A large part of burglary prevention is also community engagement, the team conduct regular have your say events in locations around Burnham, Farnham and Taplow, these events give local residents the chance to speak to a member of their local neighbourhood team and raise any concerns for their community, as well as receiving crime prevention advice. Another way the team distribute burglary prevention advice is through a process called cocooning, in which they will deliver informational leaflets to households in close to proximity to a home that has just been burgled.

Burglaries are not just residential but can often impact local businesses. This month, a 52 year old male was jailed for 12 months for breaking into a Morrisons store in Burnham and Beaconsfield while they were closed and attempting to steal cigarettes.

If you have any information please report on 101 or online at www. thamesvalley.police.uk.
Call 999 if crime in progress or you are at risk of harm.

Issue

Anti-social behaviour was one of the top priorities voted for by the residents of Burnham, Farnham & Taplow. The neighbourhood team is dealing with reports from various areas such as Burnham high street and Burnham Park, these can be issues such as noise complaints, drug use, littering and any other behaviour that impacts the community negatively.

Action

The neighbourhood team utilise their patrols to target areas that have increased and/or consistent issues of anti-social behaviour, these patrols help to both detect and deter the behaviour. They will also seek to stop and engage with those suspected to be causing issues. There is various ASB legislation such as community protection warnings that can be utilised against those persistently acting anti-socially.

Recently, the team have been dealing with illegal use of E-scooters, it has been seen that this is a topic of concern for residents across Bucks as the riders often ride dangerously on public streets. In May, policy changes meant that police would now be seizing the E-scooters right away instead of issuing warning letters, multiple e-scooters have been seized in Burnham in the past few months.

If you have any information please report on 101 or online at www. thamesvalley.police.uk.
Call 999 if crime in progress or you are at risk of harm.

Issue

Speeding has been voted as another priority by residents across the area.

Action

The team will be looking to plan speed checks and speed enforcement in the coming months. Roads of focus are: Dropmore Road, Lent Rise Road, A355 Beaconsfield Road, Hill Farm road, Lake End Road and Marsh Lane

The neighbourhood teams across Buck continue to promote the community speed watch scheme, in which local residents volunteer to monitor the speeds in their neighbourhood with support from police. If you are interested in helping out you can contact the community speed watch co-ordinator: [email protected]
