Current Priorities

Issue

Speeding vehicles in and around the ward, Coleshill road/Bromford Lane. Due to a number of RTC and members of the community hurt, the community wish to see enforcement and preventive measures to be taking place to reduce this problem.

Action

Multi agency operations to tackle the fatal four (speeding, drink/drug driving, using a mobile phone, not wearing seatbelt). Sometimes you will see us on our own with a handheld speed device to catch speeding drivers. Other times you will see us parked up with partners from DVSA, West Midlands Fire Service, Taxi Licensing, VOSA and many more, providing education to drivers and removing vehicles form the road that shouldn’t be there. We are also introducing community Speedwatch, to help focus attention on the dangers of speeding.

Issue

Anti-social behaviour around the Washwood Heath junction – including begging, homelessness and drug use/dealing.

Action

We are working with partners form Birmingham City Council, 3rd sector businesses and charities, to engage with those causing ASB. The primary objective is to get help and support to those who need it, so their personal situation is changed for the better. Where this fails, enforcement action is taken to deny those causing the worst ASB from using the area. Due to this civil orders have been drafted and will be presented at the location preventing individuals not to engage. If the order is not abide by Civil action will then be taken

Issue

Illegal parking – We are working with Birmingham City Council Parking Enforcement to identify key locations that suffer the worst inconsiderate parking. We know that the majority of vehicles are owned locally, so we are using a mixture of education and enforcement, to persuade residents to be more considerate.

Action

We will be working with government agencies to identify individuals who are buying/selling vehicles from residential addresses, where two or more vehicles are for sale. which can be a source of ASB due to large number of vehicles. enforcement action will be taken to reduce this type of activity. Daily patrols are conducted at highlighted locations which are the source of this activity. with the required enforcement action taken.
