Current Priorities

Issue

The Kings Norton ward area has had reductions in burglary (-6%), Robbery (-14%) and Vehicle Crime (1%). The one area of focus during the next period is serious youth violence which showed a slight increase of 3%.
Serious Youth Violence is a concern in the Kings Norton area with a slight increase in the last 12 months (increase of 3%). The local team will focus on this area in the next period (April 25).

Action

The Kings Norton Team will focus on serious youth violence and anti-social behaviour in the next period. The lighter nights and warmer weather whilst being welcomed does seasonally result in an increase in reported ASB and associated incidents. The team will work closely with colleagues and partner agencies to address any reported concerns and to prevent offences.

Issue

Off road motorcycles causing ASB in the local area and on housing estates.

Action

Joint working with partner agencies to educate reference the implications of riding with no helmet, licence, insurance. Along with Operations arranged with the Forces Road Harm Prevention team.

Issue

Increase in vehicle crime

Action

To tackle vehicle crime effectively, our team is increasing patrols in areas where these incidents have been most prevalent, employing intelligence-led policing to identify patterns of offending. We are also working closely with other departments within West Midlands Police and community partners to gather intelligence and target offenders involved in vehicle-related crime.
We strongly encourage residents to take steps to protect their vehicles, such as ensuring cars are securely locked, removing valuables from sight, and parking in well-lit or secure areas where possible.
