Current Priorities

Issue

Serious youth violence in and around Soho Road and Villa Road.

Action

Targeted foot patrols along Soho and Villa Road to provide visible presence and disrupt crime and ASB,requesting other departments to assist including safer travel.
Partnership meetings with business owners to discuss options in target hardening and disrupting crime and ASB.
Targeting hot spot areas with proactive operations. Engaging in schools and youth groups to divert young people at the risk of being involved in serious crime.
Persons have recently been arrested for knife possession and investigations are ongoing.

JULY UPDATE - Operation Advance took place on 16/07/2025. Officers conducted targeted patrols on Soho Road tackling anti - social behaviour, drug dealing, violence and dangerous driving. This operation was conducted alongside our partnership agencies, such as British Transport Police, BCC Soho Bid.

AUGUST 2025 - Numerous joint patrols between BCC, Outreach team for homeless people and Police These patrols are taking place on Soho Road, Villa Road, Lozells Road and Wellington Road. During the patrols Police, BCC / Homeless team are engaging with community and supporting individuals were needed. Police are using the PSPO where appropriate to tackle anti-social behaviour.
Patrols conducted Handsworth Triangle including Lozells Road and Villa Road 5th - 7th August with Partner agencies.
Cuppa with a coppa at Heathfield Court 7th August 2025.
Joint patrols on Soho Road with Partners on 4th, 7th and 11th August 2025.
PCSO's have been delivering leaflets PSPO letters to residents across the area to educate local residents.

Numerous PSPO tickets issued.

Asb in and around the Soho Road/ Lozells Road and Wellington Road

Action

Working with Birmingham City Council, local partners and support agencies to address causes of ASB, street drinking and begging.
PSPO breaches continue to be issued to those causing Anti Social Behaviour, work continues with our partners to gather intelligence and to reduce incidents. Community Protection Warnings continue to be issued as required.

MAY UPDATE.

We continue to work with our partners. All out days have been conducted with partners including homeless charities, drug and alcohol support groups on Soho Road, Villa Road and Lozells Road.

PCSO UMRAN has joined the team and is providing a visible presence across the ward.

A community surgery has been set up at Heathfield Primary School.

Meeting on 17/07/2025, issues were discussed about homeless individuals are causing anti- social behaviour on Soho Road early mornings. Our PCSO'S are arranging early morning joint patrols with BCC and Outreach teams in the coming weeks.

Tackle Drug Use, and Drug Dealing related offences around the Lozells and East Handsworth area.

Action

Intelligence Led Proactive hot spot patrols around areas of incident. Utilising Stop and Search Powers where appropriate and recording Public Space Protection Order Breaches. Offenders have recently been arrested and investigations are currently underway
We request that the community provide intelligence to our team through the use of Crimestoppers.

JULY UPDATE - 28/06/2025 - Officers patrolling Wellington Road part of Neighbourhood week arrested four males for possession with the intent to supply class A & B drugs. Officers also seized cash, weapons, phones and drugs.

01/07/2025 - After recent reports from the community and as part of ASB - awareness week officers patrolled Wellington Road engaging with community and shop keepers.
