Current Priorities

Issue

Billesley Neighbourhood Team have been contacted regarding antisocial behaviour within certain blocks with Braceby Avenue. There have been reports of young people smoking drugs and playing loud music.
Drugs paraphernalia has been left within the communal areas. The main communal doors have been left open - some of the doors are broken. This is an ongoing issue within this area.

Action

Local PCSOs have been patrolling the area. At present time the matters being reported to ourselves have lowered in this area - but we will continue to monitor this location.
We are still reminding all tenants in the affected blocks to close the main communal doors which is supporting in lowering the problems mentioned.
We would still like the local community to contact us directly with any concerns. This can be done through our website - or crime stoppers anonymously.

Issue

The use of off road bikes/scooters/vehicles driving/riding around the area. This is causing a nuisance to the public, damaging park lands and can be dangerous. This is a recurring problem.

Action

This issue is wider than simply this area. We are seeing ongoing issues with people using off road bikes (and road legal ones) and riding them in an anti social or illegal manner. We are also seeing crimes occur utilising motorbikes as vehicles to escape the area in.
We have been discussing these issues with other departments and work is taking place to target key nominals who are known. This work is ongoing - and when we can inform on the results we will do.
In the last month or so, the local team have seized further motorbikes from key locations around the Billesley area. Some have been stolen vehicles.
The sharing of information around nominals, vehicles and locations has taken place with Solihull police and West Mercia Police with further targeted work taking place with officers from their areas. Again this work is ongoing and when we can share the results we will.
We are currently working with the community to identify other suspects of the off road bikes. High visibility patrols are being undertaken within the locations.
Once identified, visits will take place with a view to issuing warnings/Community Protection Warnings/Notices.

Issue

Vehicles parking inconsiderately around Chamberlain Road during school pick up/drop off time. This is a recurring issue mentioned to the local PCSO's

Action

This issue has stopped over the summer months due to school term time. We anticipate this will start again and the local PCSO's will attend again to educate, advise or enforce around parking matters.
The local PCSO's have liaised with the Parking Enforcement Officers from Birmingham City Council. There are a number of schools across Birmingham with similar issues around parking - and so the time spent by the parking team on each issue is sporadic. We have also discussed this with Kings Heath School to assist with the current parking issues and the reminder to parents to park safely and considerately.

I would encourage the local community to report further issues around this matter on the website - direct to the local team or to Crimestoppers anonymously.
