increase in thefts reported at stores located at Warwickshire Shopping park

Action

We are carrying out a mixture of plain clothes and high visibility patrols at key locations, during the morning and afternoons. Arrests of key offenders continue as we work hard to gather evidence and apply for Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBOs).
We are working closely with local stores and offender management teams to identify and manage repeat offenders.

numerous suspects in last month arrested and charged with shop theft in the area over the last month, hard work continues in reducing this crime, positive outcome rates for shop theft offences in Stoke and Wyken is one of the highest for Coventry .

Issue

Concerns raised by residents and community of speeding in the area, key locations including , Clifford bridge road, Binley road and others.
This will remain a priority for the next couple of Months

Action

West Midlands Police are tackling speeding through a combination of community involvement and targeted enforcement. Our Community speedwatch scheme involves trained local volunteers using approved speed detection devices. Where inappropriate speeds are recorded:
-Drivers may be stopped by officers for a roadside intervention
-Warning notices may be sent to registered keepers to encourage safer driving behaviour.
Aim is to reduce road harm, increase public confidence and raises awareness of the dangers of speeding.
In addition, Police officers regularly carry out calibrated speed enforcement, issuing fines where necessary.
-During July speed checks have been conducted at:
Brinklow Road, Clifford Bridge road, and Binley road.

Op Advance on 19th August , Off road bike operation conducted with specialist Traffic units in the afternoon,patrolling hotspot sites, including open space parks in Stoke and Wyken ,( such as The Lindfield) , one arrest was made , suspect on an off road bike .
Team will continue to conduct local operations for the next month.

Issue

Local parks within the Ward, such as The Lindfield, Barras Green, Stoke Heath, Caludon Castle Park, have seen increase in ASB (anti social behaviour). Issues include groups of youths gathering, off road bikes causing disruption, criminal damage, and disorder, impacting the safety and enjoyment of these areas.

Action

-Increased high visibility patrols in hotspot area, ( including officers on pedal cycle patrols)
-Targeted operations to tackle off road bike use, including seizure and enforcement.
-Engagement with young people and use of stop search powers where necessary.
-Partnership work with housing providers, local councils and youth services.
-Referral of individuals to support agencies to reduce offending.

the local team are conducting open space patrols on pedal bike patrols on a regular basis, engaging with and reassuring the public.

Numerous patrols conducted in last month , including joint patrols of hotspot areas with specialist Force traffic units/Off road bike team. One on the 19th August as part of Operation Advance. Officers working together to tackle ILLEGAL electric bikes and scooters around the city. 8 bikes were seized as a result of this operation, from various locations. Also on 28th August evening, officers stopped vehicle and arrested suspect on suspicion of drug offences.
