increase in thefts reported at stores located at Warwickshire Shopping park

Action

mixture of plain clothes and high visibility patrols at key locations, AM and PM . This has resulted in several arrests so far. Ongoing action.
Upper stoke area: Our team arrested two prolific shoplifters in this area this week, one who had two accounts of theft and possession of class a drugs while the other had fifteen charges of theft and possession of class b drugs.
We are currently organising a meeting on retail crime for local businesses. Once this meeting is set, we will collaborate to enhance our efforts in reducing and preventing crime. For updates, please follow us on X/Twitter and check WMnow.
Officers have been continuing plain clothes patrols at the Warwickshire Retail park which have proven to be very successful, sadly during an operation this week, one of our Officers?received a bite whilst arresting an offender, thankfully this has not proven to be very serious and the Officer in question is recovering well.?

On the topic off retail arrests a prolific shoplifter from the local area was sentenced to 36 weeks in prison.

Officers also made two more arrests for other offences.

Issue

Concerns raised by residents and community of speeding in the area, key locations including , Clifford bridge road, Binley road and others.

Action

Community speedwatch and Speed enforcement operations have been conducted several times over the last 5 weeks. 30th December, Clifford bridge road, 112 vehicles checked, one driver issued with fine and two others advised.
Community speedwatch also conducted around Wyken croft and Stoke park primary school
19th January 2025, Clifford bridge road, 100 vehicles checked, one issued with fine, and several others warned.
20th January 2025, Clifford bridge road, 100 vehicles checked, one issued with fine.
Further locations and speed operations planned, will be conducted at locations highlighted as concerns.

Issue

Community members and school administrators have expressed concerns regarding student safety and parking issues during morning and afternoon school commutes. Following adequate notification, enforcement will now commence, remaining as a priority for next month

The neighbourhood team has again been working with the council to cut down on dangerous parking outside schools within the area. Our team focused on the Stoke Primary School this week, necessary penalties were handed out to those who chose to endanger others due to inconsiderate parking.
On Tuesday, March 4th, our team carried out an operation near Wyken Croft Primary School, Pearl Hyde Primary school and Clifford Academy on Gainsford Rise, we worked in collaboration with the local council and their traffic wardens. During this initiative, we issued several fines to individuals parked in dangerous and obstructive locations around the school. Those who did not receive fines were provided with guidance on our objectives, which focus on enhancing student safety and improving visibility to prevent accidents during peak school hours.

On the same day, we also conducted a speedwatch operation on Hipswell Highway targeting drivers who were significantly exceeding the speed limit. Offenders received fines, while those marginally over the limit were offered general advice regarding safety and awareness.
In the last two weeks there has been more work , conducted with the council to reduce dangerous parking outside schools in the area. Our team focused on the Stoke Primary School this week and Wyken Croft primary school, necessary penalties were handed out to those who chose to endanger others due to inconsiderate parking. We have also conducted a community Speedwatch, those drivers who were seen speeding will be sent letters in regards to this, if there are repeat offences then they can be enforceable.
