Current Priorities

Issue

Antisocial behaviour, damage to communal parks, danger to other road users and pedestrians, perceived threat to individuals safety and illegal drug use. The team have seen an increase in reports regarding off-road bikes and electric bikes over recent months. Associated with this has been an increase in intelligence regarding both the antisocial aspect to their activity and the concern around these forms of transport being used to assist in dealing drugs across the area.

Action

The team are in the process of gathering intelligence and urge our communities to continue to report these issues to us on a regular basis with as much information as possible. This then allows us to act upon the intelligence received and make bids for more specialist resources to assist. Recent information sent out through WM Now informing communities of action that can be taken and covering legislation. Also encouragement to report to police with as much as information as possible. Ongoing review

Issue

It had been identified at a number of resident meetings in the Earlsdon area regarding the speeding of motorists and the ignorance of the 20 mph speed restrictions. Further information regarding speeding in Binley & Willenhall areas.

Action

A team enforcement day was conducted and speed detection equipment utilised to monitor the traffic in Earlsdon. A total of 50 motorists were identified speeding in the 20 mph zones within a 2 hour period. All have received official warning notices in an attempt to educate them regarding the dangers of breaching speed restrictions and the likelihood of more enforcement action with future breaches. Further speed watch events are in the process of being arranged. Ongoing Review

Issue

There are a number of locations across the neighbourhoods that we cover that are subject to sustained and daily shop theft offences. These are located at both retail parks and small independent local stores. This causes significant impact on the businesses subject to the thefts and impacts on the safety of staff and customers at the stores.

Action

Recently deployed retail crime officer to obtain quality primary investigation enabling robust enforcement through the criminal justice system. An increase in both overt and covert responses and proactive patrols at the locations subject to the most harm. Of note we have secured many arrests and convictions of a number of prolific offenders for shop theft across the neighbourhood over the last 3-4 months for a lot of offences. We have been successful in working with our offender management teams to secure criminal behaviour orders against some of these offenders and have provided opportunities to divert individuals into drug and alcohol treatment programmes.
Business impact officers now dedicated to assisting in the investigation and prevention of these offences. Officers continue to deal with them as they emerge. Ongoing review

Issue

ASB causing disruption to community members, damage being caused to community spaces and facilities

Action

Officers increasing patrols within the areas at the peak times, ASB warning notices being issued and liaison with partner agencies such as Housing and Violence Reduction Partnership to support positive engagement and deter ASB/Criminal activity. Ongoing Review
