Current Priorities

Issue

Anti-social behaviour (ASB) on the High Street, as well as Catholic Lane, Ladies Walk and other surrounding areas in Sedgley. An increase in off-road bikes have also been causing a nuisance and a danger to pedestrians in the green spaces, such as the Beacon.

Action

We have been tackling anti-social behaviour (ASB) in the High Street, as well as Catholic Lane, Ladies Walk and other surrounding areas. We are currently working with the local businesses to double down on efforts to disperse large groups of youths. We are building an intelligence picture around who our main offenders are so we can issue ASB warnings. This also involves work with the local schools and our partnerships officers. We also have increased patrols, with other teams providing support for patrols when we are on rest days.

Off-road bikes sightings on the Sedgley Beacon have been ongoing - however with the installation of the new deployable camera at the top entrance of the Beacon, we are keen to identify patterns, bike descriptions, and riders in order to provide thorough intelligence to the off-road bike operation set to take place in September.

Issue

An increase in anti-social bheaviour (ASB) involving off-road bikes in Upper Gornal and shop thefts in hotspot locations.

Action

Anti-social behaviour (ASB) involving off-road bikes have been on the rise in the area in a number of green spaces and footpaths, causing both a nuisance and a danger to pedestrians and drivers along main roads. We recently recovered an off-road bike and arrested the rider on Woodsetton Close - we hope to continue this success in an upcoming off-road bike operation set to take place in September.

In relation to shop theft, we have had prolific offenders recently identified and are looking to perform arrest attempts. Our work is currently ongoing to identify groups targeting the location and collaborating with other areas where the offenders are crossing over. We have identified crime prevention opportunities at the shops being hit the hardest with shop thefts and have reached out to their security teams to provide a dual approach to the issue at hand.

Issue

Our priority is focusing on drug dealing at Oak Street and the Silver Jubilee Park in Coseley. We are also focusing on vehicle thefts and thefts from motor vehicles in and around the area.

Action

We have been increasing patrols and utilising our Stop and Search Powers to search suspects whereby we search individuals and vehicles for possible drugs. We continue to receive intelligence to help aid with our response to the issue at hand. To continue this course of action, we appreciate the continued support from the public - the information that you tell us gives us a bigger picture of what goes on in the communities.

We have increased patrols in areas where there have been higher than average reports regarding vehicle thefts and/or thefts from motor vehicles. We are working to secure CCTV and identify the offenders as well as actively working with intelligence to narrow the search. We have been able to identify locations where stolen vehicles are being kept and returning them to their owners more quickly than before - this is thanks to reports on 101 and the attentive public.

Issue

Anti-social behaviour (ASB) and off-road bikes in Lower Gornal. We have also noted ASB in the form of kicking doors and throwing eggs at residential houses.

Action

We are focusing on increasing patrols to help deter the presence of off-road bikes that are driving around the parks and onto the roads. With the continued support of the public, we can map hotspots and implement operations where the Police Off-Road Bike Team can target. We have been putting up off-road bike warning signs up around green spaces affected by off-road bikes which will hopefully educate and deter further sightings of off-road bikes.

We have also been working with the public to identify a number of nuisances regarding doors being kicked and eggs being thrown at windows - we have had success recently where calls have been made to those affected and we have responded to reports of the offenders. This has resulted in the offender youths being spoken to and identified by our team - allowing for us to speak to parents and highlight the behaviour to them.
