Current Priorities

Issue

Retail Crime. Local businesses have advised us of concerns around an increase of shoplifting in the area. We are aware that a number of local businesses have been subjected to repeated retail crime and we understand the impact this has had.

Action

Retail crime continues to be a concern, particularly at Great Bridge retail park. This issue is the primary focus of PC Harris, the Dedicated Neighbourhood Officer for Great Bridge and he is working with the businesses to not only reduce opportunities for those to commit offences but also to secure evidence to successfully prosecute offenders.

As always I will encourage local members of our community to report any issues or concerns via 101, web chat or 999 in an emergency.

Issue

Antisocial Behaviour.

We have received complaints of ongoing antisocial behaviour in Pear Tree Avenue, Tipton

Action

The team and Sandwell ASB officers are working with residents of Pear Tree Avenue to address the issues of persistent ASB being caused to the residents of the street. We have held meetings with residents and served warning letters to those responsible.

As part of our commitment to reducing ASB we deploy officers to the estate to carry out regular high visibility patrols.

We are working with the council and partners to target ASB, including the deployment of CCTV and high visibility patrols. Officers and the council are also taking action to target those causing harm to residents.

We would encourage residents to continue to report issues of ASB to us.

Issue

Off Road Bikes - a continuing and known problem. Residents are suffering from ASB from the use of Off Road Bikes, particularly in the Princes End ward. Operation Moment is the local response to this issues and we continue to work with local partners to address this issue.

Action

Off Road Bikes - a continuing and known problem. Operation Moment is the local response to this issues and we continue to work with local partners to address this issue.

The local teams are working with partners to tackle antisocial nuisance bike behaviour across the borough through the installation of permanent deterrents. Sandwell council is also monitoring this, and with the increased use of these inhibitors, the use of these bikes is decreasing. Please continue to contact us and the council with any reports of off-road bikes being used.

A multi agency operation is planned for September to target those using the bikes in an antisocial manner where both the police and partners will be using our legal powers to disrupt and enforce against those causing harm and distress to our residents.
