Current Priorities

Issue

Under 25 serious youth violence

Action

Under 25 violence has again been raised as a priority at our recent BCRP meeting.

Under 25 violence is both a local and force priority.

The team will continue visible patrols in hotspot areas where serious youth violence is likely to occur. During patrols positive action will be taken by officers including enforcement (Arrest), stop and search, making referrals and other methods that will prevent and deter youths from committing acts of serious violence.

Issue

ASB (street drinking / aggressive begging & off road bikes)

Action

The team continue to focus on this priority which was again raised at our recent BCRP meeting.

The locations identified within the area include
1 - High Street / Duchess Parade
2 -Oak Road.
3 - St Micheal's Street.

In response to the issues raised the team have and will continue to conduct patrols at the above locations at the relevant / identified times.

The team will also continue to conduct weekly patrols with Sandwell Council EPO's to target reports of ASB and street drinking. - In relation to last weeks patrols, I can update you that a male was arrested following him being abusive to one of our police community support officers during this patrol, this male is now on bail pending CPS advice.

As always I will encourage local members of our community to report any issues or concerns via 101, web chat or 999 in an emergency.

Issue

West Bromwich Outers - ASB/Begging - Scott Arms, Great Barr

Action

My team are working with local partners to provide support to rough sleepers at the Scott Arms to move into accommodation.

The team is working to disrupt and enforce against those begging at the Scott Arms who do not engage with supporting agencies and continue to cause ASB at the Scott Arms

Issue

Antisocial use of off road and electric bikes

Action

Off Road Bikes - a continuing and known problem. Operation Moment is the local response to this issues and we continue to work with local partners to address this issue.

We are continuing to monitor the use of off-road bikes in the area and officers conducted a multi agency operation on Friday 26/07/25 across Tipton, Wednesbury and West Bromwich. A number of off road and electric bikes were seized and warnings issued to riders under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002. A number of residents were also issued tenancy warnings due to antisocial behaviour related to the use of nuisance bikes.

The local teams are also working with partners to tackle antisocial nuisance bike behaviour across the borough through the installation of permanent deterrents.

Sandwell council is also monitoring this, and with the increased use of these inhibitors, the use of these bikes is decreasing. Please continue to contact us and the council with any reports of off-road bikes being used.
