Issue

Community Priority:
Concerns from residents about ASB related issues in and around Merton Way, Pleck.
Concerns from residents about people using and dealing drugs and sleeping rough in the communal areas and stair wells of private properties.

Action

April 2025 Update
The issues of homeless people gaining access to to communal areas continues. Though this has moved to a new but connected location.
Patrols are being conducted and any offenders moved on or offered support to the local homeless team. The main issue is insecure main doors which the site management will be checking.

May 2025 Update
Repairs to main communal entrance doors is still in progress, allowing the occasional homeless person to gain access. The incidents of ASB and people gaining access has reduced over the past month.
July 2025 Update
The communal entrance doors in the specific area of Merton Way, Pleck, have now been made more secure. Along with continued reassurance patrols by neighbourhood team officers, incidents of ASB have greatly reduced.
Officers will continue to monitor the ASB and if the improvements continue, this priority will be closed as resolved.

Issue

Community Priority:
Following concerns from local residents of Incidents of school related ASB at the bus stop on Wolverhampton Road, Birchills specifically when local schools close. Reports of nuisance behaviour and criminal damage taking place

Action

A joint action plan between police, schools and Walsall Council is now in place to tackle this issue.

June 2025 Update
Our officers have been working in partnership with local schools in the area to make them aware of these issues and to identify individuals involved.

We have liaised with Walsall Council who have issued warning letters to those already identified..

Police will continue to carry out targeted patrols and will monitor and will take positive action against anyone involved.

July 2025 Update
Following the interventions and warning letters issued, the incidents of ASB in the area of Wolverhampton Road and Laneside Gardens, has reduced. Some incidents of ASB have been reported mainly in relation to one specific bus stop, where youths congregate while waiting for buses to go into Walsall Town Centre. Considerations are being made regarding the bus stop and what improvements can be made to help residents that live close to the bus stop.

Issue

Community Priority:
Following a community police surgery, concerns were raised of Anti Social Behaviour in Dora Street, Pleck. Local youths are involved in ASB in the street, using e-scooters and climbing on private property. This is affecting residents in Dora Street and neighbouring streets.

Action

June 2025 Update.
Pleck NHT are carrying out targeted patrols and reassurance visits to those residents affected.
We have also carried out visits to individuals believed to be involved in this behaviour. We will continue to work with our partners including Walsall council and look to see what other measures can be put in place.
July 2025 Update
Some reports of ASB in Dora Street and neighbouring Kingsley Street continue, though the frequency of the reports have reduced.
Joint agency work is being carried out to deal with those involved in the ASB and Pleck neighbourhood officers continue with their reassurance patrols.
