Issue
Batley East Ward Area
- ASB and Begging Batley Town Centre
Officers and Police Community Support Officers to increase patrols in around local stores and in Batley Town Centre. To reduce the number of calls in relation to nuisance behaviour and nuisance beggars. This will be facilitated through the increased use of powers of issuing Community Protection Warnings and Community Protection notices and dealing with repeat offenders.
- To work in collaboration with local businesses to reduce shoplifting and theft in the local area
The Neighbourhood Policing Team are working with local businesses to establish working relationships with store management to provide crime prevention advice and target shoplifters.

We are actively tracking theft from shop incidents reported at several key retail locations identified as high demand areas. A designated officer is responsible for collating all reported theft from shop incidents and reviewing whether initial investigative actions have been completed. In addition, local officers are monitoring individuals known for persistent begging some of whom are linked to theft from shop activity. Where appropriate community behaviour order and being pursued in collaboration with partner agencies to address repeat offending. Regular foot patrols continue to be conducted in these areas as part of our traditional crime prevention strategy aiming to deter offending and provide visible reassurance to the public.
Issue
Birstall Birkenshaw and East Bierley Ward Areas
- To disrupt and arrest shoplifters that are attending Birstall Retail Park
We will continue to conduct high visibility patrols, engage with the stores and security and work in partnership with crime prevention. We have conducted crime prevention stalls over the Christmas period and will continue to run this initiative. We will also be focussing on anti-social behaviour at Birstall Retail Park. We will target those involved in anti-social behaviour by conducting high visibility patrols and working with partners and businesses to identify and deal with offenders. We will take positive action and utilise our powers to deal with any identified Anti-Social behaviour.
- East Bierley Golf Club
We have received reports from members of the golf club that youths are causing disruption by riding bikes on the grounds, resulting in damage and ASB. We have liaised with the club and aim to increase patrols to deter further incidents and identify those responsible. We will work with partner agencies who have also attended and conducted a walk through with committee members to identify the key hotspots.
- Birkenshaw Park ASB
There has been a noticeable increase in gatherings of young people, particularly during evenings and weekends. This has led to a rise in reports of anti-social behaviour (ASB). We intend to Increase police and PCSO patrols during peak times, engage with the young people and youth services to provide diversionary activities, work with partners including Councillors and Community Safety Officers with a view to reducing ASB.

We have continued to monitor crime in this area and conduct high visibility patrols.
- East Bierley Golf Club
We have received further reports of damage at this location, enquiries and investigations are currently ongoing.
Issue
Cleckheaton Town Centre Ward Area
- To reduce the levels of Commercial Burglary offences in the Cleckheaton Ward
We will deploy police resources to conduct targeted and proactive patrols. We will seek to disrupt and identify offenders, ensuring action is taken where suspects are identified. In addition, we will work alongside partner agencies to provide a range of crime prevention information and advice to local businesses, with a view to reducing offences.
- Anti-Social Behaviour / Nuisance Bikes
Officers and Police Community Support officers to conduct high visibility patrols around, Cleckheaton Town Centre and areas of the Greenway to reduce the number of calls for service in relation to nuisance behaviour, anti-social use of off-road motorbikes and shoplifting in the Town Centre.

- Cleckheaton Town Centre
Cleckheaton is a key location in the Home Office’s summer surge to tackle ASB. Our town centre team have been working hard to be visible in the area and combat neighbourhood issues. Offences in Cleckheaton town centre have reduced a total of 36% from 2023 to 2024, reducing from 112 to 72. ASB has halved from 2023 to 2024 (45 to 23) and we continue to see reductions.
Issue
Liversedge and Gomersal Ward Areas
- Spen Lane/Shirley Estate, Gomersal
To disrupt and engage with nuisance youths who have been seen to be disrupting traffic/people in the location. These youths have allegedly been causing a nuisance, been threatening and anti-social in their behaviour (often wearing masks to intimidate). We plan to deal with this issue by increasing high visibility patrols in the area. We will speak with the youths/their parents when necessary and we will be working with partners in the anti-social behaviour team to deter future behaviour. Offenders will be given directions to leave (Section 35 notices) and the Police will seek to obtain anti-social behaviour contracts where necessary. Any criminality will be dealt with robustly.
- Various Roads Liversedge
Concerns around speeding vehicles and other driving related offences in the Church Lane and Windy Bank Lane area. Officers will conduct speed checks, days of action with partner agencies and be proactively patrolling to deter drivers from drink driving as we move into the festive season. Op Trimburg continues to be successful with positive action being taken for a range of offences by the road policing officers around the Fatal Five Offences.
- Little Latham Farm
Officers have attended a report of an arson at the fields below the nursery which is used for the children to play in. Various items have been destroyed and defaced by unknown suspects and drug paraphernalia has been found. This has been passed to officers for increased patrols to reduce calls / identify those involved.
Action
- Spen Lane/Shirley Estate, Gomersal
The Neighbourhood Policing Team will maintain regular patrols and monitoring of the estate throughout the summer period and school holidays, due to the increased likelihood of incidents arising during this time. Further concerns have been raised regarding the use of off-road bikes on the local field. This matter has been referred to the Off-Road Bike Team for their awareness, targeted patrols, and appropriate intervention. Efforts will be made to gather intelligence on individuals involved in anti-social behaviour within the estate.
- Various Roads Liversedge
In May and early June, officers seized multiple vehicles in the Liversedge area for a range of offences, reflecting the ongoing issue of vehicle-related crime. In response, officers will carry out speeding checks and work in partnership with Operation Trimburg to address the Fatal Five offences.
- Little Latham Farm: Set May 2025
Following a previous report of arson at the fields below the nursery—an area regularly used by children—officers increased patrols in response to the damage and discovery of drug paraphernalia. Since then, no further incidents have been reported. However, with the summer holidays now underway, Neighbourhood Policing Team officers will continue to patrol the area to maintain visibility and deter further issues. The situation will be reviewed again after the school holidays to determine future priorities.

Batley West Ward Area
- Staincliffe Area Drug Dealing
To target reports of drug dealing in the Staincliffe area, by targeting known nominals and vehicles and undertaking proactive patrols and utilising partner agencies.
- Blakeridge Mill Shopping Centre
To disrupt and arrest shoplifters that are attending at the shopping centre and stealing goods. We will conduct high visibility patrols, engage with the stores and work in partnership with crime prevention and the ASB team to deter offenders.

- Staincliffe Area Drug Dealing
Officers continue to maintain a visible presence in the area through proactive patrols, offering reassurance to the local community. These efforts are a part of an ongoing to commitment to public safety and crime prevention. Work is also ongoing with partner agencies to address any emerging issues. This joint effort aims to provide a comprehensive response to local concerns and enhance overall confidence in the area.
- Blakeridge Mill Shopping Centre
Officers continue to work closely with local business and crime prevention partners to proactively deter incidents of anti-social behaviour and theft from shops. Through regular engagement, targeted patrols and collaborative problem-solving, we aim to create a safer and more secure environment for both retailers and the wider community.

Heckmondwike Ward Area
- Heckmondwike Town Centre & Firth Park Area
To disrupt and engage with nuisance youths in the Firth Park and Heckmondwike Town Centre area, particularly targeting ASB and Arson/Criminal Damage. We plan to deal with this issue by increasing high visibility patrols in the area and working with partners in Kirklees Council to deter further behaviour. A number of pro-active arrests, directions to leave and referrals to youth services have already been actioned.
- Lidl & Morrisons, Heckmondwike - Theft from Shop and ASB
Public reports indicate concerns of ASB and theft from shop offences around Lidl and Morrisons, Heckmondwike. The Batley & Spen Neighbourhood Policing Team are prioritising anti-social behaviour and theft from shop offences. To prevent a rise in incidents, we are conducting hi visibility patrols, engaging with the community, and collaborating with the businesses. These measures aim to deter potential offenders and reassure the public. We will engage with youths and use ASB legislation to prevent youths from returning to the location.

Officers continue to carry out proactive patrols in the area, working closely in partnership with Kirklees Council’s CESOs. This joint approach aims to address local concerns, enhance community safety and tackle issues such as ASB.
- Lidl & Morrisons, Heckmondwike - Theft from Shop and ASB
Officers continue to work in close partnership with the businesses and Crime Prevention Officers to disrupt and deal with shoplifters and persons causing anti-social behaviour. Officers continue to conduct regular patrols.
