Current Priorities
Issue
Hare Coursing
Action
At this time of year rural communities traditionally see an increase in hare coursing incidents. This activity is illegal and causes damage and disruption to the land it takes place on. Local officers will be focusing their efforts on patrolling areas know to be used by hare courses and other rural locations at risk. Officers will look to deter any offences taking place and deal robustly where offences are found to have been committed. They will also look to identify areas at risk and offer security and target hardening advice to land owners where possible.
Issue
Burglary and Vehicle Crime
Action
Increased community reassurance patrols throughout the area are being conducted, as well as targeted activity and partnership working to combat a recent increase in vehicle crimes & burglaries. Follow our advice to keep your home safe from burglary, damage, doorstep theft, fly-tipping, and squatters: protect your valuables, safeguard your building, and secure your outside by checking our crime prevention section of the Wiltshire Police website. Search: protecting your home from crime. Contact your local neighbourhood team about acquiring Selecta DNA kits.
Issue
ASB and Criminality in public spaces
Action
Officers are working with partner agencies such as Wiltshire Council, the Ministry of Defence and local schools to target anti-social behaviour in public spaces and around business premises. There will be an increased police presence through targeted patrols, as well as pop-up community engagement sessions to allow members of the public to raise their concerns directly to a local officer.
